I always get this dialog when I open my project. I have clicked Yes to remove them but it still displays every time.

What to do?

Hi Frede,

I could not reproduce that.

I did the following:

a) Open your project PDC.SLP
b) Confirm binary remove with yes
c) Save the .slp
d) Re-Open the .slp - The confirmation has gone

Can you please try this to find out that we see the same.

What I could not check (because I do not have the binaries) is:

a) Open your project PDC.SLP
b) Confirm binary remove with yes
c) Scan for Changes
d) Save the .slp
e) Re-Open the .slp

Do you perhaps do it this way?

Would be nice if we could narrow the problem a bit. I tried here all possibilities (excepts scan for changes) and it worked like expected.

Markus

I have tested it with several my projects, and unfortunately I couldn’t reproduce it too. All my tests always were finished removing unnecessary resources. I tried to several tricks e.g. lock or set do not translate status on binary items before removing, but without results. I will be appreciate for some additional information.

Best,

Janusz

I have further investigated this and found the following.

1. The problem only occur after I have scanned my project, saved it and then reopened it. As I usually always scan this is why I thought it always displayed but if I just open it without previously having scanned the project, the message does not  appear.

2. This leaves me with the question as to why the project change after a scan although I have not changed any of the included project files or any other settings. With every scan I get the following result in the attached file. I also attach the log html file.  Now if I save the project and reopen it I get the message about resources. If I scan again, the exact same scan result reappear again.

Any ideas?

Hi Frede,

I tested scan feature for your issue with some my projects, but unfortunately I still can’t reproduce it. We have your slp file, but without at least one source file, we can’t to test scanning operation behavior of your project. I don’t know also, if message is displayed always after every scan (also for not changed source files) or only after scan for updated resource files. Could you tell me about it?
About second point your latest post:
Thank you for output report, but I as mentioned above, we can’t reproduce scan issue without at least one source file, for which occurred this scan issue. You are experienced SL user, and for this reason I suppose that you use following features menu Project > Clear New Status or Clear changed Status before scanning, isn’t it?

Best,
Janusz

I follow these steps.

1. Open the project - Message is displayed
2. Save project
3. Scan project by going to menu Project - Scan for changes
4. Save project again.
5. Close project
6. Reopen project. Message is now displayed again.

The log after scan says the same thing every time. I do NOT clear New status between saves and scans and I don't change any source files.

Attached is a movie of the behaviour, the output report after scan, the project file and a source file (.NET assembly).

Hi Frede,

Below are results my tests:
1. During opening project I confirmed removing binary resources.
2. For better and clear preview I have removed all source items from project tree without source files - I have keep only node for Prodacapo.WebSolution.dll
3. After scan I got mentioned by you results – changed, new and unused items
4. I have cleared statuses from Project menu
5. Close/Open project – during opening project removing binary items confirmation message wasn’t not displayed!
6. Re-scan project – output pane information don’t show any changed or new strings (look on screenshot)
I have repeated several times step 6, and every time Sisulizer doesn’t show any new, changed or unused items in output pane.
Unfortunately, on tested PC I haven’t installed .NET SDK, but it shouldn’t to have influence on this scan issue.
Could you to clear statuses from Project menu before scanning? Your information about results of this operation could be useful for resolving your issue.

Best,
Janusz

My personal guess is that the resource messages is triggered when it detectes resources in Delphi Win32-dlls. I am sending on of the .exe to support(at)sisulizer.com

After adding your exe file to my basic version of your project, scan feature still working correctly, also removing binary resources dialog is not displayed again. Please, find in the attachment output report of scan operation for your DLL and exe files.

Best regards,
Janusz

Hello,

Markus has some interesting idea. Could you send Prodacapo.websolution.controls.basic.dll file to support (at) sisulizer.fi yet?
Maybe above mentioned file help us reproduce and fix your issue.

Best regards,
Janusz

Thank you for file and your patience. We reproduced your issue, and now we can to begin investigation. Both issue with removing binary resources and issue with incorrectly displayed new items after scanning are concerned to bitmaps resources of DLL file you sent to support.

Best,
Janusz

I fixed this in 270. The file is VCL .NET assembly file and we had implemented the needed methods for .NET assembly file only. Stating for new build Sisulizer can remove and/or ignore picture and binary resources of VCL .NET assembly file too.

I am sorry to say that this is still an issue in build 274. Whenever I open the project after an automatic build I get the questions if I want to remove binary resources.

1. The software project is built, generating updated binary files to be translated

2. We call SLMake with scan and the with build.

3. Opening the SL project at this stage always show the question about removing binary resources.

If I remove the resources and close I can reopen the project without getting the question, but whenever I scan, save and close the question pops back again.

Hello Frede,

Thank you for reporting it. Fortunately, I've still your project and Prodacapo.WebSolution.Controls.Basic.resources.dll (issue is concerned to bitmap resources included to this file) and I've reproduced issue with latest Sisulizer build (without SLMake usage). I'll ask Jaakko about this.

Best,
Janusz
