When I localise a text file into my usual range of languages, the folder names for the language codes are all as expected except chinese. For simplified the folder is zh For traditional it is zh.tra In delphi I get CH and CHT In .NET I get zh-CHS and zh-CHT Are these codes for text files wrong?

Hi Bikemike, the pity is, that the makers of the different platforms did not use the same language codes. Delphi's are different from .NET's and both are different from ISO's standards. You can change the standard Sisulizer uses in the project's properties. Yes. All codes are right. Sisuluzer uses several different languages codes. 1) Internally it uses Sisulizer's own code that uses ISO code + and optional script code. Chinese can be written in two different scripts. 2) Delphi uses Windows locale codes. They are two character for a language is country neutral such as English is EN. Three character codes are use for country depend codes suchas Englush (US) is ENU. To make difference between two Chinese scripts Sisulizer use makes a tree character code even for country neutral Traditional Chinese (so CHT instead of CH that would conflict with Simplified Chinese's CH) 3) .NET uses .NET's codes. Again to make difference between two Chinese the full codes (zh-CHS and zh-CHT) are used instead of zh. Jaakko

Yes, I was only questioning the text file codes, I had got used to the differences between Delphi and .NET - and - since I have a mixed enviornment I have code that switches between them to keep support dlls aligned... If Only I had known about this setting! - it looks like I could have all my Text, Delphi and .NET apps spitting out localised content using the same language codes? !*_(at)_# Last edited on Mon Jun 23rd, 2008 09:51 pm by bikemike |
