Hi, I find small bug in link included to your automatic email for Sisulizer Mailing List subscribers announced new SL version. To the end of your download page link ( http://www.sisulizer.com/downloads.shtml. ) is added period, and for this reason this link doesn't open download page. Extra period is also added to link of your contact form ( http://www.sisulizer.com/contactform.shtml. ), and contact form page doesn't open too. Best regards, Janusz

Hi Janusz, that must be an issue with your mail client. The notification mail is a pure text file and does not have any <a> tags. But the clients simulate automatically links (what in general is very nice and wanted ;-)). The clients (Thunderbird, Gmail) I tested with have done it right and did not include the dots at the end to the link. What client do you use? To avoid the problem in the other clients I added some blank before the dots. This might look a little bit odd but it should work better with all clients. Thanks for letting us know about that issue. It looks stupid if some users clicks on a link in our email and get a page not found message. Best Markus

Yes, you are right, after open email in Outlook links working correctly. Outlook is my default email client, but for email notification, and remote management I use small email client named DreamMail ( http://www.dreammailer.de ), and this application can't correctly open these two links. Additional, after your post I tested mentioned above your automatic message directly on my account via Webmail. My ISP provide their clients two Webmail solution: old, but very good Squirrelmail, and implemented several months ago new dedicated for my ISP email software. Squirrelmail opens links without problems, but second email software on my server incorrectly recognize these links (like DreamMail). I tested your email with 4 different software (2 email clients, and 2 Webmail software ), and in two cases software can't correctly recognize downloads and contact link. For this reason, it seems to me that adding blank spaces beetwen link text and dot is goot solution, and it can guarantee correctly opening of your links in all possible software. Hi Janusz, actually there are much more periods and even one question mark I had to change. I added some blank before the dots and question mark. The client will stop marking the a URL at the first blank it finds. That should eliminate the problem in the nasty clients. Perhaps it is an German issue that all sentences must have a dot at the end :-) It would be wonderful if you could test again after the next mail is send out. Again: thank you very much for reporting such details! Best Markus

It would be wonderful if you could test again after the next mail is send out. No problem, I will inform you about links behavior in my all email software (on desktop and server) after receiving next email notification (for example for SL 1.6.24). Perhaps it is an German issue that all sentences must have a dot at the end :-) I wouldn't like to hurt you, but people in Poland says, that on every German blueberry is written "Guten appetit!" :-) Best, Janusz Last edited on Thu Apr 10th, 2008 08:57 am by Janusz Grzybek ____________________ http://www.sisulizer.com - Three simple steps to localize |

Haha, yes you are right - we have strikt rules in Germany (what is not always the worst. Just the tax laws should be much, much simpler). Best Markus

Hi, I tested your new email template with 4 desktop email clients and with 2 webmail clients, and now all links open correctly targeted sites in all these software. Maybe, sentences without white spaces before dots looks pretty, but now you have guarantee that all links will be open correctly in all possible email software. Just the tax laws should be much, much simplerUnfortunately, we in Poland have this same problem, but it seems to me that this issue concern most EU countries. Best regards, Janusz
